Love your locks

NUMBER 2– Showing your hair some much-needed TLC

Have you ever seen a picture of yourself and asked “is that what my hair really looks like?”  Well I had one of those moments and realized that my brassy, dull, stringy, dead locks needed a serious Valentines revamp! It’s okay to be selfish sometimes to add a little spark to your original routine.

Not having a go-t0-stylist yet in Chicago I figured, what the hell, just try somewhere new.  I came upon Red 7 Salon in the loop because my stylist, Lauren aka Elle, needed a color model.  Instead of $90 and above it was only $25…SOLD!

This salon is 3 flights of brightly covered interior with shining chandeliers.  A relax yet fun environment made it super-easy to enjoy my time here.  I opted for dark brown with plum undertones so it had some dimension.

VOILA!

Colours From The Capitol

This post was completely inspired by my OBSESSION with the book-the saga of The Hunger Games.  I finished it in two days and have already started on the 2nd book. A teenage love story enfold during a “post apocalyptic” era governed by “the Capitol.” When it’s time to battle in the hunger games, only 1 can survive.  In anticipation of the movie debuting on March 23 China Glaze will be launching a line called “Colours From The Capitol” on March 1. The cream and shimmer shades are all inspired on characters from the book.  Can you guess which shades are  Katniss, Peeta, Effie? Ta-Ta Twilight…

Merz to the Rescue

It seems like we have a Walgreens or CVS on every street corner (not including Starbucks) here in Chicago.  The traditional beauty and health goodies are easy enough as 1,2,3 but if you are an adventurer in products, like me, Merz Apothecary carries European brands focused on natural remedies and unique products.  This historic apothecary opened in 1875 catering to immigrants in the Chicagoland area and seriously carry an overwhelming amount of products from soaps, lotions, vitamins, candles and unique health options.

There are 2 locations:

4716 N. Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL 60625 (Original)

Palmer House Hilton hotel 17 E. Monroe Street Chicago, IL 60603

These cold winters call for some much-needed TLC and calmness in my life.  I LOVE this Lavender Basil soap which relieves skin irritations and becomes super-creamy  to moisturize the skin.  This store is my version of a candy-store and WORTH visiting!  You can also check out their products online!
